Job description

Gamecan is looking for a Level Designer to join our design team. Working with art teams, engineers, and designers, you will focus on bringing the world of a third-person shooter to life by constructing new maps that will engage, surprise, and serve as a proper multiplayer arena.

  • 3+ years of industry experience working in games in a Level Design role.
  • You must provide examples of levels you’ve created in shipped games.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to write clear and concise documentation.
  • A great collaborator in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Self-driven team player with a strong work ethic.

  • Manage the levels’ design from conception to finalization.
  • Maintain and balance the readability, difficulty, and accessibility of the levels.
  • Create design documentation and illustrate your designs using 2D maps and diagrams, then Whitebox them in Unreal Engine 5.
  • Collaborate closely with other departments such as Environment Art, Systems Design, and Animation to deliver a fun, high-quality player experience.
  • Work with the Tool and Engine teams to improve the Level Design workflow.
  • Infuse our IP into our world through compelling environmental storytelling.
  • Further, evolve and help establish the standards for a great level design within Gamecan.
  • Actively engage in and seek out play-testing for your levels to get feedback.
  • Use feedback effectively from our players, the team, and data.

Good to have

  • Experience building levels for multiplayer games
  • Experience working in Unreal Engine 4

What do we have to offer

  • The office is in a new development right in the centre of Pärnu, providing a sub 15min commute and proximity to all the stores and restaurants.
  • Adjustable desks – stand, sit, squat, or hang from the ceiling!
  • Powerful desktop machines to work on – the PC waits for you, not the other way around.
  • 1Gbit/s internet speed in the office, typically 300Mb/s at home.
  • We are crazy about taking time off with new and old video games, a day at the spa, sauna, or the beach (yes, Pärnu has a kickass beach!). A rested developer is a happy developer!
  • The team is phenomenal – nearly 50 people who are amazing to each other.
  • The living costs in Pärnu are extra low. Even the most expensive apartments in the centre have their rent of around 400-500€ per month.
  • We work in a nurturing company culture where personal growth is highly valued. Your professional skills will also get buffed at the speed of light.
  • We help you with relocation every step of the way to make sure it’s as smooth as possible.
  • We offer a wide range of benefits, including gym membership, Spa discounts, and monthly cab credit.
