Global Game Jam Tallinn 2025: A Weekend of Creativity and Innovation! 🎮✨
Last weekend, Tallinn became the hub of game development as nearly 120 game developers came together for Global Game Jam Tallinn 2025! Over the course of 48 hours, participants turned their ideas into unique games based on this year’s theme: “Bubbles”. With developers from all over Estonia and even teams from Latvia, the event was a true celebration of regional game-making talent.
The jam was organized by GameDev Estonia in collaboration with the Tallinn Business Incubator, the National Library of Estonia, and Mainor University of Entrepreneurship. For the first time ever, the National Library of Estonia served as the venue, offering a unique and inspiring environment packed with creative energy.
Bubble-Powered Creativity! 🫧💡
As always, the theme was unveiled on the first day, and “Bubbles” sparked an incredible variety of projects! From 3D wizard duels to a chaotic battle of Bubbles vs. Mosquitoes, creativity was off the charts. Some standout projects included:
DisCoin: The Crypto Bubble Simulator – A humorous take on market trends and speculation.
BubbleFire AR – Media hooks and signs of disinformation are all around us. In BubbleFire AR – literally. How vigilant are you and how well can you defend yourself from them?
MonstrAtom – Filled with unproven facts, logical fallacies, and media-driven twists.
I am your friend – A touching story-driven game about a lonely boy with a difficult life. He has no friends, and his parents are alcoholics who don’t care for him.
Bubblebound – Bubblebound is a roguelike where you place bubbles, pop them, and buy upgrades. See how far you can get!
Bobo’s Bubbles – Step into the shoes of Bobo, a brave and imaginative kindergartner with an extraordinary bubble blower!

“This year’s theme brought out some of the most creative and unexpected ideas we’ve ever seen! Every team pushed their limits, and the results were simply amazing,” said Andrejs Rusinovski, the main organizer from GameDev Estonia.

Out of the 24+ teams, four winners were chosen, with additional special prizes awarded for:
🎨 Best Visuals – Presented by Frozen Lake Studio for outstanding artistic direction.
📚 Most Educational Game – Recognizing a game that blended learning and entertainment.
🎵 Best Use of Music – Honoring the most immersive and creative sound design.
A Community-Driven Event 🤝
The event wasn’t just about game-making—it was also about learning, networking, and growing together. On the second day, participants had the chance to hear from inspiring speakers, including industry experts who shared insights into game design, visual storytelling, and development strategies.
“Global Game Jam exceeded expectations in every way! More than 24 teams worked tirelessly to create original games in such a short time. We were also excited to announce a pre-incubation programme for game developers and teams, offering continued support beyond the jam,” said Nele Plutus, consultant at Tallinn Business Incubator.
“Hosting this event at the National Library of Estonia was a fantastic experience. Events like these, which combine knowledge and creativity, help enrich our cultural and intellectual environment,” added Daniel Jäätma, Event Developer at the National Library of Estonia.
